Kutnu has been woven in Gaziantep for centuries. Its silk warp and cotton weft combine the sheen of silk with the strength of cotton. Flowing stripes are the fabric’s signature, emerging directly from the loom. During the Ottoman period, kutnu was used for kaftans, ceremonial dresses and everyday sashes.
Antep kutnu fabric was registered as a geographical indication by the Turkish Patent Institute following an application from the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (application C2015/009). The registration records the yarns, weave and region of production, protecting the tradition associated with its name.
We commission this fabric for our sash belts, carrying its weaving tradition into a contemporary accessory.
